What's happened?

BT test 10 minutes ago:

Download speed achieved during the test was - 1.04 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.4 Mbps-2 Mbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :7.62 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 1.25 Mbps

For months I have had an excellent connection with download speeds well in excess of 6meg most of the time. Nothing has changed with my installation, router direct to filter/faceplate etc etc.

Router stats, same as they always are:

Been like this for two days now. ISP says "there have been a lot of disconnections"

Suggestions please

At some point you have had a connection speed between 1440kbps and 1696kbps. That has resulted in the 1.25kbps IP Profile which is what is holding down the throughput.

You sound as though you were not aware of the disconnections IDNET(?) are telling you about?

I would have expected the IP Profile to have risen to 6500kbps by now. Maybe it will overnight, as that's when it usually updates. The longest it can take is an interminable 5 days from when you got the 7616kbps connection .

I was not aware of the supposed disconnections, speech circuit quite normal too. It was extremely windy about three days ago so suspected dodgy connection in the overhead v.exposed stretch of my line, 450' asl!

Will wait and see but agree, thought it would have settled down by now.

Requested IDNet stick something manually up the IP Profile but nothing yet!!

The BT Wholesale tester does seem to be doing that a lot recently . What we don't really know is whether the result is wrong, or that they are managing not to apply their own IP Profile .

At least the IP Profile is now correct.

I suppose it's one of those situations where you get more than you bargain for
