I know of one case where Tesco are providing BB only, which appears to be ADSL MAX, even where the exchange is LLU'd (inc. C&W LLU) and 21CN WBC enabled.
Which exchange is that?

Tesco BB is provided by C&W.

1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up => 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB => 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB => 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU => 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU => 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC

http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange/NDFAV - sorry I should have checked and said 21CN WBC enabled, LLU'd (not including C&W LLU) shocked

Ah, that explains it! Tesco, i.e. C&W, only do ADSL Max at exchanges where C&W not LLU. Just like O2 Access & Sky Connect.

In fact Tesco now don't sell in C&W non-LLU areas; it's only for legacy customers.

AH, yes, this is from that thread from that guy who was inherited by Tesco smile

"The Tesco network is provided in partnership with Cable and Wireless Worldwide and spans 90% of the UK population." - http://www.tescobroadband.com/Help-and-Support/Artic...

"Tesco Broadband (within our network area)
£8 for 6 months, £16 thereafter...
Tesco Broadband (outside our network area)
£10 for 6 months, £20 thereafter"
-
http://www.tescobroadband.com/tesco-broadband/broadb...

Is the "network area" an exchange that is C&W LLU'd?

And the point is? You try getting Tesco to offer you BB in Faversham.

I take it that "within our network area" is where C&W LLU'd and "outside our network area" is for its legacy customers.

Only here do they mention ADSL2+ which is presumably full LLU: "Tesco Broadband & Homephone is based upon ADSL2+ technology" - http://www.tescobroadband.com/HelpAndSupport/Article... smile

Yes, wherever they supply it, but they don't in Faversham.

Like you say: Tesco "broadband only" is just like O2 Access and Sky Connect but its certainly very difficult to discern that from the Tesco web site.

At least Orange use 21CN WBC even in their non-network areas smile
