MAC is invalid - why?????

Migrating from Vispa to BT (cheaper) and at last have a MAC code from Vispa. BT wont accept it, claiming it is invalid. Now, Vispa closed for weekend (What sort of internet business runs like that these days?).

The MAC is like

BBIPnnnnnnnn/EJ30J

(but the 8 digits in the middle are different!!)

Does it look right?! If, as I suspect, Vispa say on Monday that it IS valid, where do I turn next?

Your MAC should look similar to one of the examples below. This is not an exhaustive list but is intended to provide guidance on the format of the code.

did you get it by email and forward it like that ? if not, try that route.

so, as it starts BBIP it should then have seven digits following, whereas mine as eight...?

it does say the list is not exhaustive, but it may point to a problem with a spare digit.

Oh, thanks. I guess I could try to enter without say, the leading 1 or the final zero, but seems to be hit-and-miss.

technically it's the job of the acquiring ISP to sort it out once you've double checked it.

the BBIP format is also used to identify the circuit.

Well, I spoke to BT and they said I should speak to Vispa to verify the digits......like i can't read or something.

I read somewhere that the two digits near the end signify the day of the month it was issued, which cant be right as the letter is dated 9th May......

I once had a call from the electricity board - they was concerned my last quarter bill was over £900.00. I nearly fell out of the chair. She put me through to some 'engineering adviser' and he starting asking silly questions like 'do you have underfloor heating? How many washing machines do you have? Do you use a dishwasher? etc. etc. At the time I was single, so said all I do is one wash a week, I have gas fires and no I haven't ANYTHING that could use that much electricity.

He then asked for the serial number of my meter - luckily I had a wireless phone so went to the meter to give it him (under the stairs in the flat I live in).

Well, to cut a long story short it turned out the 'meter man' just poked his head into the cupboard and read my meter missing the FIRST digit off - so instead of 19221 he read 9221 - and they put a ZERO on the end, so it became 92210!

8000 units used in 3 months.

I was well mad.
