TBB v HTTPx6 tests - huge difference

I am starting to wonder if there is something amiss with my PC. When I use the standard SpeedTester page (not mobile or the installable version), I get the expected 5.8-6.4 (ish) Mb/s DL speeds on the tbb test and about 0.1 Mb/s on HTTPx6 (likewise UL speeds are about 0.7 Mb/s for tbb and (last one was) 0.03 Mb/s HTTPx6 (!!)

Is this huge difference symptomatic of anything? Note that I just installed a new ASUS DSL-N55U (with wireless, i/s/o the old WAP I was using with >>>), but I got similar HTTP results with previous DrayTek Vigor 2820. I used to just shrug, but I'm starting to wonder...

Probably something blocking the HTTP access to the test files.

Also worth noting your latency seems stupidly high, which might actually be the cause, i.e. the HTTP testing could be giving up with latency so high.

Yes I noticed the high latency on one test (but it's only 35ms on the other, unless you count that as high also, so I figured a one-off). It doesn't seem to affect web-browsing,except when updating certain sites with new content (online tickets I reply to) which take 10s or so to refresh after I click Submit. But routine browsing seems fine, as are downloads, uploads to FTP, and so on.

But thanks to your prod, I tried disabling 'WebGuard' on my AV (Avira Internet Security 2012), and

Thanks for the extra info and what was causing the poor HTTP performance

We will be adding notes about odd situations like yours to the tester in due course
