You mean BT Retail? Why didn't you say so? You know very well that most regulars here would take you to mean BT in general. Or if you don't, I find that truly amazing.
I bet if you go into the "sign up to Infinity" process BT (Retail) will recognise your number! Then just duck out!

Which is EXACTLY what I was complaining about within the system in the first place. A few words back, you were telling me IT WOULD so long as I was not LLU. Now you are changing tack again. This thread is in the context of BB migration where an important factor is whether the phone line is WLR or not. It has nowt to do with BT Retail! It would seem obvious that if you do not pay your line rental to BT Retail then BT Retail's website will only offer you limited services.
I have not changed tack. I never mentioned you should not be on LLU but that you need to be on WLR for BT systems in general (BTW+OR) to recognise you.

Well I would call it Wholesale BT if being sold on in bulk to my ISP, Retail if sold direct to me, but it's a mad world now where words no longer mean what they used to. If it comes to 'Know very well', most that have had the usual go at me tonight, 'know very well' that it would take a hell of an offer to tie me into BT for 18 months. That is no reflection on BT, I found them better than most apart from understanding their offshore accents, but applies to all silly long tie-ins in my book.

Sorry, but it's not how it read to me.
Not true! It will always recognise your # when you have WLR, i.e. pay your line rental to another provider for a BTw line. You are confusing that with paying your line rental to a Full LLU ISP, like TT & Sky.
|
|
|
The upshot of it all is that BT systems in general do recognise your #, but just BT Retail does not as you do not pay them anything to look after you.

I do, it simply goes via somebody else. just BT [censored] mindedness. It's a BT line which they originally allocated the number, and are happy to take rental for its upkeep, just so long as they can pretend you don't exist until you return - Enough to push you to TT.

This is fruitless!
A proportion of your line rental ends up at BT Wholesale not BT Retail. You are fully aware of the difference but are deliberately feigning ignorance.
It's how your elected government legislated it .

I am not remotely interested in anything BT, be it wholesale or retail. If that makes me ignorant in your shallow world of acronyms, then I pity you.

Your phone service and broadband are both provided by BT.
