The point is:
I did NOT want to reply to any particular post, just make independent comment on the subject....
I do not see a way of doing that.

It would have been completely valid as a reply to the opening post? That uses samknows as its source, and you found it unreliable. That's of direct interest to the OP.

If I have a general comment, I would just reply to the opening post. In this case your reply was anyway in response to the OP in that it was about the reliability of Samknows which the OP is depending on.

Replying to an arbitrary post gets confusing particularly when it is trying to solicit an answer to a Q, as mine was.
