LOl yeah, even my Wife did a double take when I told her about the copper.
and it would be [censored] amazing as it's underground.
Well that some lv1 CS's for you
Do you know if the Virtual path can be sorted out by the engineer or is it isp lev2 only?

engineer can request sorting out via his helpdesk or whatever.

Virtual path - depends on the issue
If its a mis configuration then someone in BT Wholesale probably needs to do some remote typing.
If its a case of Post Office needing to buy some more capacity in the BT Wholesale cloud, then someone needs to make the decision and place the order etc before eventually someone upgrades it in size.

Line Stats before fix
Connection Speed 8128 Kbps 448 Kbps Line Attenuation 30.6 dB 15.5 dB Noise Margin 10.9 dB 25.0 dB
DSL Connection Rate 8.13 Mbps (DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps (UP-STREAM) IP Profile 7.15 Mbps.
Line Stats after fix
Connection Speed 8128 Kbps 448 Kbps Line Attenuation 30.5 dB 15.5 dB Noise Margin 8.7 dB 25.0 dB
DSL Connection Rate 8.13 Mbps (DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps (UP-STREAM) IP Profile 7.15 Mbps.
The noise margin has gone from 10.9 to 8.7, is this a problem?
Engineer came
called the exchange to tell them he wanted to do a lift and shift on our adsl1, they said NO, and refused him access.
he then called my isp and asked if they could do anything for the speed as we should be getting 7+, no again its max to the exchange.
he then said hes going to the street cab and he would return in 10.
waited for him to return, he didn't. 50 mins later the internet dropped for a few seconds and the throughput went from 2Mbps to 6.8Mbps, and there its stayed.
Cant get any info on if he moved the pair, but there was a 2 dB move in the noise margin as soon as it came on, so might have.
He never returned, didnt log fully what he did, and was very peed off with the exchange.
He was a BTW guy, not a contractor and he came for 80 mile away, even though the bt engineers are across the road from us.

no, probably not statistically significant.

the throughput went from 2Mbps to 6.8Mbps, and there its stayed. Good, but can't imagine what he did at cab or exchange to achieve that, while always running at full sync.

It looks very similar to last time (years ago now) when they moved the pair in the cab, but don't know this time.
Might be a faulty cab?
The thing is, the cab is 5 mins walk from us, he went in his van and it was 50 mins before the internet dropped then came back up.
the isp told me that he signed the job off at about the same time too.
My Wife told me at one point he was pacing the path disagreeing with someone called Gordon at the exchange, saying he wanted access, and that we were paying customer's
That's when he came back to he saying they wont let him in to do the lift and shift, and that his card wont work at the door.
He might have called his boss and gone to the exchange after all, but I can't get any info.
it's anyone's guess
So if I went fibre, would they move my pair in the copper cab anyway?
I'm hoping that the fault was after my pair, and the 2dB drop will still allow 16-18 ads2 or 48 fibre
