BT Retail will now doubt try to charge me. I will tell them that it is unreasonable because the fault lies with a 2 month old phone purchased from BT and the broadband did not work with just my router or the first BT technician equipment connected to the test socket.

When I called BT retail to report the phone they tested the line with the front plate disconnected. Had I also asked them to test the line with the front plate and phones connected, they might have told me that there was a fault - presumably in my house.

Good thing that Plusnet didn't request the Openreach engineer visit, if they had then any dispute about the faulty phone and charge for the visit could have been a lot more complex...

Best of luck - hope you can resolve things with BT Retail satisfactorily smile
