Broadband sync dropped ?

Hello people ..
Just been messing around with routers and a new NTE5 faceplate and noticed when i plugged the router in when i had finished the sync speed had dropped a lot ...
Sync speed before where :
Operational Mode G.DMT
Upstream 768
Downstream 4950
SNR Margin(Upstream) 7.0
SNR Margin(Downstream) 6.6
Line Attenuation(Upstream) 31.5
Line Attenuation(Downstream) 53.0

After (10 minutes later)
Operational Mode G.DMT

Downstream 3040
SNR Margin(Upstream) 7.0
SNR Margin(Downstream) 3.3
Line Attenuation(Upstream) 31.5
Line Attenuation(Downstream) 52.0
What is happening please enlighten me thanks in advance.
I have always had a sync of over 4500kb/s if that helps

Whose service is it? Will help to interpret what may be going on e.g. some DLM systems see the fiddling as you play around as instability and can slow you down.

Have you got any extension sockets, and what are the old and new faceplate makes/types?

If you have extensions, how did you insert the wires into the new faceplate?

Plusnet unlimited .

No other sockets on the same line and its a tandy NTE5 plate.
I have the open reach master socket

I would try the TEST socket and see what stats you get so you can tell if it's your faceplace/wiring that's dragging things down.


NB. It's always best to sync during daylight hours to get your best results.

Okay banding may have kicked in - I'd suggest a resync during daylight hours

I just restarted and got a sync of 4500 so thats better.
But when i did a speed test its at a rock solid 2mb/s?

The 2 Mbps will be down to the PlusNet system taking a bit longer to spot the new IP Profile on the connection.

Banding - used by BT Wholesale to limit range of speeds a line can connection. Helps to reduce the amount of flapping, but can after power cuts mean you connect slower for a few weeks as a side effect
