Different error values.

I have question for you guys.

I can see stats in my modem with errors etc and they are looking high. I ring my ISP and ask them about the error rate and they tell me that they can not see many at all. At the point of ringing I had 222 ES and they could only see 12 on UP and 2 on Down. Can someone explain what is going on? MY current connection is stable and I do not experience drop outs. I found best ISP gateway which gives me best ping ever on this connection so all is good. I just do not want to mess the connection up. Although with raise to 9dB I still should be getting decent sync so I could live with that. My current modem is 2700 HGV at default ISP value for SNR target. Please see stats below. PS Link retrains were caused by me trying to get the right gateway.

With no errors in the last 15 minutes it looks like issue may simply be burst noise and difficult to resolve this as ADSL operates in such a noisy frequency band i.e. AM radio

So what is going on? Burst of noise from something electrical causing the odd error, but looks like nothing to really worry too much about.

Connection speed is pretty good for just ADSL mode

Why am I seeing different error counts to what my ISP is seeing?

I can ring them up and they will tell me that they do not see to many errors from their end. Be it ES up and down and HEC and anything basically.

Yet I can see in the router stat page the errors displaying. Why would they see different values? Which values to believe?

Should I believe what router tells me, routerstats. Or should I believe ISP when they say that the line is fine with very little errors on it?

No drop outs nor disconnections at this point but evening is approaching .

The error fields vary greatly from modem to modem, and it is actually a rare provider that lets people in the call centre see this level of data.

Most likely they are seeing something different, e.g. counting resyncs or other major errors, where as the router is reporting a lot more figures.

Looking at the figures you have shown, then the line does seem fine with some errors, but otherwise working fine. The expected connection speed at 51dB attenuation and ADSL is in the 3.5 to 4.4 Mbps range, so with a connection of over 6 Meg you are doing very well.

When I called them (Zen) to ask about my line stats and whether my error rate at the time is acceptable I was bemused to find that they could only see 12 ES on upstream and 2ES on downstream when I could see in the router stat page that there was 222 ES (prob only downstream).

Also like you said, they mainly mentioned resyncs and Err Seconds.

If you are saying that all is fine then I will stop worrying about the errors and just enjoy the speed and low latency.

I was only expecting 2,5-3 meg max over here but Achieving 6,1 meg sync is amazing. Just need to wait for ip profile to catch up and that is it.
