If your existing fibre provider is using the BT Wholesale backhaul network then you want to pick one that does not use BT Wholesale exchange kit or backhaul i.e. to avoid the scenario where back fails due to not the line but a backhaul network issue.

So while my needs are less than yours I run one FTTC line with IDnet (a WBC provider), and my other 'personal' line with Sky (they don't sell to business). In short pick the one that has the least connection with your existing connection and can cope with totally unlimited usage and provides static IP addresses (makes life easier for firewalling cloud/email type services)

They are pretty pricy, and we would need a 4 line service due to distance from the exchange. Add in installation costs and it's a lot - even with just a one year contract. And we would still just have a max of 10Mbps.

Our BT exchange is fibre ready, and they are rolling it out to the cabinets. So I would hope within a year to move over to Virgin 50Mbps broadband.

Virgin 50Mbps broadband is nothing whatsoever to do with your exchange.

I thought there was a number of Virgin products.

There is cable TV that comes with an internet option, then there is business broadband which is BT Openreach etc? And that come from the exchange? It FTTC correct?

But I checked on their website, and our Post Code is not covered!

Virgin Media business may be available outside the cable footprint, very much a case of checking the pricing and they usually use their own network, rather than piggy back off Openreach.
