Once the engineer completed the set up, I asked him if I needed anyone to sort out the router, and he said "No, it's just self installation' so I guessed that everything was set up correctly. Did I need another engineer?

No. self install means you plug it all in with microfilters, we have no idea what you ordered, the BT order system should have told you important stuff like that.

But you may need an engineer to visit and test and show that its not a wiring issue stopping the VDSL2 working now. Same day dispatch of these is rare as they are limited in number and are busy with other peoples jobs on a specific day so need to be booked in advance.

In reply to a post by LTTOBTS:
Once the engineer completed the set up
What did the engineer actually do?

If the engineer was booked to install a telephone line they have done it right.
If the engineer was booked to install telephone line and do a managed install of FTTC then they've not done it right.

So question is what did BT Retail book and what did they tell the customer was booked, the two do not always agree.

There's a good chance the OP ordered the self install product. The engineer on site was just installing the line.

Option 2, an attack of the contractors, who've done summit wrong somewhere ........

Go to: https://www.bt.com/appsconsumerordertracking/index.d...
Input the various order numbers you have been given and see what was actually on the orders.
