Right to Copy

The UK has adopted legislation that provides the right to format shift, or rip hardcopy media such as music CDs, for private use.

"The Government do not believe that British consumers would tolerate private copying levies. They are inefficient, bureaucratic and unfair, and disadvantage people who pay for content,".

"That is why the Government's exception is narrow in scope. It will not allow you to give or sell copies to others, and therefore will not lead to lost sales to copyright owners, making the need for a levy unnecessary."

I suppose pulling all music, programs, games etc to hard drive in the forms of .mds or .iso is covered within that then?

I'll bet this has gone through because the rule makers are legitimising some aspect of their own lives.

Does it affect my family?
Does it affect my friends?
Does it affect my constituents?
Does it affect the country?

Edit: "Does it affect my expenses" pops in somewhere between 1 and 5, depending on the size of their majority. The safer the seat, the more the expenses rises in the rankings, regardless of the politician.

It was still technically illegal. Laws that are not enforced and considered no longer suitable should be changed or removed - having redundant laws on the statute books is pointless and could cause issues in future.

Personally I agree with them changing this to match the reality of use and enforcement.

Wont change a thing!
