Instability is making me unstable!

I have posted here over a few years regarding my erratic ADSL service on this line, throughout 3 ISP's and covering the range from 512k/2 Mbps/ADSLMax/ADSL2+. Openjoke have looked at it a few times. have halfheartedly tried various things (including an SFI charge that didn't stick) including an E side swap, I have removed all the extension wiring, changed countless filters and routers. still it plays up, this is the system record for the last 22 days.

Am I being unreasonable here? Does this level of interruption to an "always on" service seem right? I know there are many really knowledgeable members here, but sadly no one has ever offered me any insight into what the problem may be, Ive grown tired of going over the same old ground with ISPs, even when they get engineers involved it seems that the ones attending are either not skilled or not bothered enough to chase this down, ISP's dont seem that interested either.

I feel the only place left it can be is in the D side wiring, and sadly that wiring will still be in play if I take fibre, but the way I feel right now I wonder if I should just give up and move home to get away from this problem. The line has always been a disappointment - even on Dial up I had to have the gain tweaked due to some performance issues.

Surely someone - somewhere on Thinkbroadband will have an idea of what the issue is? I saw a phrase used the other day "lost carrier"... would that explain the "DSL not responding (no DSL synchronization)." entries in my router log? How can I get this line cleaned up in time for fibre?

The line currently shows SNR as 6db (occasionally rises to 9db) and an attenuation of 39db. The line is a little short of 3km (physical length) confirmed by Openreach, and fits the known route of the cables. The line is fed to my property via a short overhead - less than 10 metres, the overhead was new when I moved here in 1999. The cabinet around 375 metres from my premises - the line between the pole base and the cabinet is fed via ducting.

I cant think of anything else that would help.

Some noise is causing your adsl to drop, this may be due to openreach wiring or some random RF on the area.

Time to learn how to use software to monitor dsl stats from modem. This may reveal a pattern.

RF identification and locating interference is a slow process willing to pay someone who has all the kit to camp out for a week to figure it out?

I wish I had the funding believe me! It can be fine for days or even weeks then it just freaks out and makes the web a miserable experience. As far as I am aware none of my neighbours share this problem BUT.. there is a Western Power Distribution Sub Station across the road, the cable would be underground as it passes and the Substation has the flat between it and my Router which is on to opposite side of the property.

It seems to behave better in the summer months... maybe there is a clue in that. I know that the neighbours have all changed in my time here (the joys of private renting) so its not like someone has a treadmill (or similar electrical unit) nearby that they have been using for many years.

The log in issues seem more frequent now Vivaciti have tipped me back onto Enta. but I think thats a different issue.

375m of even duff D-side will give you good speeds on FTTC.

This reminds of me an issue an end user had at the place I used to work. We tried everything (remotely) to identify the issue!

In the end the user was happy to have their line capped to increase stability..have you tried this?
