Re: Speed issues

I think you have gathered from the other posts, the old connection you have is already running at or close to its technical limit. If you wish to be connected to the New cabinet and take advantage of the much higher speeds, you can, but you will need to pay. The actual cost of the connection is not a vast amount more, for a greatly improved service. Should you decide to upgrade then think carefully about the amount of data /bandwidth you will consume. Things that were either very slow or not possible before may be come routine, such as watching catch up TV rr buying and downloading a film and they use a lot of data.

Available speed on the current system varies a great deal, it has been as high as 6Mb for a 2 week period, but now and then I'm down to 2Mb.
Actually, the 3Mb is sufficient for streaming catch-up TV from the major players and Netflix streams without any delays (although I don't stream HD). Other streaming services, non-UK sources I suspect, do struggle though.
I will probably go for the upgrade when it's available, even though 5 or 6Mb is probably quite fast enough for my needs ~ hence my original question.
