NETGEAR AC1900

Hi,Can anyone help me out.
My Netgear DGN2200 was dropping connections every so often so i have ordered the NETGEAR AC1900 Nighthawk.
Since ordering it i have found out that it is only a router and no modem.
Also i have found out that the Netgear DGN2200 cannot be configured to be modem only.
So what i am asking is what is the best options i have to connect to the Internet.
Since ordering the NETGEAR AC1900 Nighthawk my DGN2200 as not lost connection typical.
So other then returning it when it arrives has anyone any suggestions ie; decent modem or better router modem.

Think I just used one of these when I was on ADSL and had a separate router/modem - link.

Thanks Spud for your help, but having thought about it more i have decided to return it and be more observant when buying a new one.
