There is NO Openreach 40/20 product, PlusNet only achieved this by buying 80/20 and capping it within their own network management systems.

It's worse than that. If someone needs faster than 2Mbps upload but is on a line that is not predicted to be above 40Mbps download Plusnet will not allow them to pay extra and go on the 80/20 service. Their only option is to look at other ISPs who offer the 40/10 service.

I'm pretty amazed that Plusnet hasn't added an option for higher upload like an add on...

I was looking the other day at wholesale costs for Openreach FTTx products and notice the difference between 40/2 & 40/10 is just pennies (though thats a saving anyway) they could sell an add on to upgrade a 40/2 to 40/10 for £5 and still make a nice profit!

I suppose I must be missing something or Plusnet marketing is that ......

One thing you're missing is that the Plusnet price difference between 40/2 and 80/20 is £5.

The indispensable man or woman passes from the scene, and what happens next is more or less the same thing as was happening before.

Oh Yeah..... hahaha ironic that!

Now I think about the problem at hand here not being the 40/2 product that in most our opinions is a poor excuse for "fibre" broadband but actually being that customers are not allowed to purchase a higher end packages to fulfil there needs..

I agree over 38/2 is very poor for fibre copper. As it should read out below:

if it was 8/0.8 then it will be standard ADSL copper
if it was 16/1.4 then it will be standard ADSL2+ copper
if it was 38/1.9 then it will be standard fibre copper
if it was 38/9 then it will be medium fibre copper
if it was 76/19 then it will be large fibre copper
if it was 300/20 then it will be superfast fibre optic

Actually what i noticed going through the wholesale costs recently too is that there is such a product as 40/15 too!

and almost sure that there was a 100/25 product in the early days too!

PS. I think you meant 38/9.5

Very rare for isp to have these product 40/15 and 100/25. But, it would be nice if we all have 100/25 instead of 80/20.
