I even use voice over them and once the delay is understood, conversation is not a problem either.
Yeah, I've spent months on boats working in North Sea using Geo sats for voice and data comms and you do get used to the voice delay but it needs both side of the conversation to understand the delay. Nowadays, people using VOIP dont normally expect a delay when calling their friend/family a few miles away on land so usually end up talking over each other on a high latency connection.
