Network Engineers will be trained to climb poles but they are unlikely to climb many in their day to day duties. Network is a team based job and if you are unlucky enough to be on an overhead team, one of the team will have a cherry picker.

BTW I have already posted the difference between Service and Network engineers further up the thread.

Relax. I've done both and I reckon Networks is a better job. Not because it's a better job but because the management culture is better. wink

Ah yes I just saw your previous post on the difference between the roles thank you, certainly clearer now. I just assumed it was basically going to people's houses installing lines and broadband and whatever else, didn't realise the network engineer was quite different in that you work in a team.

Looking forward to it even more now!

I am soon to start and haven't been given any information at all yet... no idea where i'm going really or what to expect.

But i'm sure I will be told soon enough!

Hi newbie here. Went to the assessment day last wednesday and was waiting to hear back. Waited by my phone all morning and the one time I leave the room I missed a call from them (same number that called before for telephone interview). Not sure what to do now as Im going on holiday later today where there is no phone signal for four days and I desperately want to know if I've got the job! I take it they wouldn't give the job to someone else just because I missed the call?! Any advice?

Hi,
I actually asked at the assessment centre what would happen if you couldn't answer and they said they would try a few times and leave a voicemail, if they got no reply after that they would email you. They also told me that if you got the job then it's your job unless you turn it down! They wouldn't just give it to someone else.
Did someone from recruitment email you to set up a telephone interview or to send details of the assessment centre etc? If so I'd just email them and explain you missed the call etc and they should get back to you about it.

7 weeks today until my start date.... I hate waiting! Haha.
