Are we talking wiring a standard 13 amp plug? If so, then a lot of people these days won't have done that as virtually everything comes with a moulded plug. I used to do it a lot in the past but over the last 5 years I have probably fitted 2 plugs and that is only because it was for a TV stand and the design meant you had to cut the moulded plug off the lead to be able to thread it into the stand.

But, if I was going to an interview where I knew I had to fit a plug I would do it a number of times before attending to make sure I could do it easily.

It was more about the kind of mind that would problem solve and be inquisitive, rather than the exact task itself.

I knew in my head how to do it, but just never gave it a go.
The task is only to see if you can follow instructions that are given to you on a sheet.

I've been wondering what fuel card you get given, but esso? I don't even know where my nearest esso garage is! I thought they went a long time ago.

I got told yarnfield for a week or two and then Harrogate for the rest, both of which accommodation is provided.

Hi jajo,
South Shields?!? How come I didn't get offered one that close to home?! Haha.
Hope it goes well for you!

Thanks zarjaz, I already did that after I posted that comment and was surprised to see that not only is there one 3-4 miles away from me but there's a few dotted around the area! I never seem to notice esso about much these days.

Agree,I can't wait to start either! Have you received your official offer yet? I was told I would get mine mid-may as they release them in starting order. I was told I would receive a phone call 2 weeks before I'm due to start to discuss accommodation and travel etc.
