Maybe they've filled their quota for your area now and that's why they've stopped booking assessments in?

I was told they're only taking on two engineers in my area, so maybe demand in my area is greater with number applicants they book for assessment. But definitely strange to send an email asking to make contact and then be turned down.

Will have to wait for the next stage of recuritment. Just hope its soon for my area!!

Thanks

Are you sure the person you spoke to realised you had received that email, and didn't think you were someone just ringing up to apply?

Within the email it stated if you like to attend the interview at the assessment centre to call the telephone number and allow 10 minutes for the call. I assume this is the brief telephone interview.

As i attempted a few times to contact the person via telephone with no response i sent an email replying to the original, stating i am interested and wish to be shortlisted and to contact me asap.

I was quiet presisted on the day with telephone redialing as this was the job i was after a long time, When i finally got through i was told nolonger accepting applicants. They also confirmed they recieved my email. So they were aware of the email they sent and also the email i sent.

Just one of those days i guess!!

Just out of interest really, does anyone know what the pay situation is? Does it increase or stay the same? Does it go up annually with service or anything like that? Also with regards to management, what does their role involve? Is it primarily office based or is there a role that exists before a manager?
I'm just curious as to how the structure works

Did anyone have any issue with the plug test, or did anyone have a plug like mine? I practiced doing it so I was able to do it easily before I came. Something was a little odd about my test plug though. I did the whole thing smoothly and without issue but when I screwed it back together I noticed a very tiny little gap running along the bottom of the plug where the main white wire goes in. Best way I can describe it is that the plug wouldn't 100% close both sides together at the bottom side only and there was maybe a half milimetre parting where it wouldn't seal. Perhaps gap is the wrong word, there was no actual gap or anything that could be considered dangerous, it's just that the bottom of the plug wouldn't fully close up 100% tightly like alll my previous plug wirings have done.

There was nothing wrong inside the plug that could have caused this, so I decided to screw in all 3 screws very tightly to make sure it wasn't due to the screws just not being in tight enough. I screwed them all the way in so they were tight and that half mm parting was still running along the bottom of the plug. So I tried to make the screws even tighter, as tight as I could make them. I made them so tight that the bottom left screw actually dug into the plastic screw hole a bit, causing the screw to sink in to the plastic a little and some specks of plastic from the screwhole to erode away. So It's safe to say that I did those screws up as tight as possible. The wires inside were not a problem either. They were very small wires and I easily tucked them away so they would not obstruct the closing of the plug.

But still that half mm gap remained, and i'd practiced many times before using several other plugs and never had this issue. I just didn't like the fact that the bottom part of plug didn't look perfectly done. There was nothing I could do to get rid of it.

I assumed this was just how this specific plug was and there was definitetly nothing I could do about it. All wiring was done properly, the white wire was tightly held in place and the plug was done up tightly with no gaps. I just didn't like that the bottom of the plug wouldn't fit snugly 100% - it was virtually nothing though, and there was no danger to be caused by this.

Uploaded a photo of roughly how it looked http://i.imgur.com/NljS1iq.jpg As you can see, the top half is fully closed but there's a tiny bit that won't close at the bottom of the plug. Nothing I could do about it.

Does anyone think I could fail the plug test because of that half mm parting or because I did the screws up very very tightly to try to close that last half mm?

It's probably just cheap plugs because mine was exactly the same again... I wasn't happy with it either so tried squeezing it and really tightening the screws but to no avail!
In the end I just said to myself "that'll do" and it turns out it did do as I passed no problem.
It would be harsh for them to fail anyone for that I think!

Closed? Not quite! You have forgotten to turn the key!

And could you also do the same with the Openreach contact thread ... it keeps being dragged back to the top.
