Well the Gutted BT80 box is the first box the line goes into, so I would have to remove that and replace that with either a new one or move the BT80 on the skirting board which I assume still has all the bits inside it, that might also be gutted, either way that one on the skirting board would be replaced with the NTE5A Master Socket. In reply to a post by kebabselector:Although you're not allowed to touch the existing cabling - would BTO know if magically the gutted BT80 was
removed and the NTE5 put in it's place?
BTO never questioned any of the dodgy looking solutions my house had (BT30 incoming line going to a small BT master socket) when he fitted my ADSL faceplate.
As for BT knowing if it was touched i.e. cleaned up neat and tidy, they probably wouldn't if I used the correct cables i.e. CW1308, well if nobody said anything on here LOL.
If removing that extra cable wouldn't make that much difference then it might not be worth it, I might even see what happens with our FTTP upgrade that BT has put on hold due to the bad weather we have been having, those are the exact words BT told my MP.
This might be true, there are 12K lines that are still due for FTTP on our exchange so I imagine that would take a while especially if it bucketing down when they are trying to join two lots of 288 strand fibre spine cable along with what ever needs to be done for all those lines.
And if its soon I might ask for them to resolve that issue due to they will be changing the master socket anyway.
