Oh well doesn't like we will be hearing anything this week then! This forum will be closed in a few days, does someone want to create a another thread for updates from each other or join the closed group on facebook? smile

Yeah, this thread has been a good (or bad depending on the job situation) source of information. I had no idea other folk were having the same issues in respect of the whole process. When this thread closes I reckon another one entitled 'Openreach Employment 2' is initiated to help keep everyone informed? Whats the Facebook one?

I have found this thread very useful in seeing what today's generations are up against in obtaining employment - fortunately I am far beyond that stage, having been retired for 16 years.

I do understand Andrew's concerne; but I hope it continues here as I feel it helps to understand the the broader aspects of what is happening in the broadband arena; and what BT/OR is doing to hopefully improve that situation.

Andrew was fine with the conversation being here when he responded before - he only closes the thread when it gets long as it can affect the way it displays but nothing stops someone then setting up a part 2 / 3 / 4 / etc.

Any reply to your email yet? I seen a newspaper article in the local paper here looking for people to apply to openreach as they are taking on people in the area.....so i'm confused to why there is a hold up with me at the moment....I feel like emailing that article but i'm trying to be more patient frown

Hi,
Short answer (in fact the only answer) is nope! Really poor communications going on. Maybe that could be a new job at OR. Job Title: 'How to recruit people like most normal businesses do Officer'. The advert in your local rag should carry an advisory to anyone looking to apply. ie. Must be prepared not to be told about anything regarding the positions available and be able to wait indefinately on the off chance you get a message to remain 'patient' and 'hopeful'. If you fit the above criteria apply immediately.

You missed the last sentence of the advert. Along the lines of "If any vacancy for this position arises it will probably be filled at some time in the indeterminate future from the first available candidate remaining alive on the list of those applicants who had previously passed all tests and approval checks".

This thread has shown an appalling approach to recruitment by Openreach.

.....and we both missed the even smaller print which goes on to say ...then after we have milked it for all its worth and made fools of all these eager to work people, we shall just cut them loose and let them think its just been a bad dream'.
