Bufferbloat fix?

Do newer routers have a fix for bufferbloat built into the firmware or is QOS still the best bet?

I notice whenever im uploading to the cloud my connection struggles as the upload link is being saturated. I know its bufferbloat, but was wondering would a newer router (have an old DG834Gv5) fix this?

Firmware fixes are usually QoS based anyway.

So any router that has some degree of QoS control should suffice.

DG834 is really old kit now, presume have ADSL2+

Yea gets its an old router but on ADSL2+ and its solid.

Same here with my 20CN ADSL broadband a solid connection from a distant exchange using the DG834GT.

If you can flash OpenWRT to your router, you could use SQM to alleviate bufferbloat.

I think the fix here is just natural with progression, for example now I have fibre optic with 10Mbps upload and 55Mbps download... I just use the supplied home hub but I am able to upload Dropbox, have someone else on FaceTime, stream Netflix and browse the internet with no noticeable difference to my browsing experience than when I'm home alone. So perhaps the fix is for you to consider a faster connection that is not ADSL2+. I do get the feeling the homehub secretly prioritises traffic though as even a torrent doesn't kill the connection, it's fairly usable, even able to stream still.
