Not sure about the contract length, I applied for a permenant postion but I suppose it depends on what jobs are available in your area, being in full time employment it will be a bit of a gamble going for an 18 month contract.

What part of Scotland buddy? I'm east coast in Edinburgh.

Yeah it would be a bit of a gamble, I'd like something permanent that said I'd want to leave my current Job since I moved roles which hasn't worked out for me.

Fingers crossed for something permanent.

Ayrshire mate!

Yeah I'm in much the same position to be honest, changing roles in my current job on Monday, only agreed to it as I'm planning on leaving anyway and thought it was a way to help out before I go.

I know Ayrshire well, grew up in Kilwinning and family live here.

Hopefully it will be not too bad a change and the time will fly by.

Congrats everyone smile

I'm in Somerset and am very relieved (so is the wife) that Laura emailed to say that training dates should be sorted in a couple of weeks.

My seasonal job finishes at the end of November, so am now applying for an xmas job to see me through until the training starts.

Fingers crossed we'll hear soon. Can't imagine how many people they are trying to organise!

Hi new to the forum seen some detail last week which really helped with my assesment that I attended on Wednesday so thanks to everyone who's given input on the assesment day !

Great news on Thursday I received an email saying I had successfully passed my interviews and the assesment day. Absolutely over the moon about this but then the mail went on to say that due to the vacancies needing agreed by finance I was not being formally offered a job at this time. However it went on to say this should be agreed in the very near future and they are looking at starting training in the early part of the new year. January was mentioned at the Assement day. The mail also said they would be looking to match me to a location in the meantime and would be in touch soon.

Bit of an anti climax but staying positive.

Anybody else had a similar experience ?? Praying that the vacancies are agreed and they agree a start date and offer the job soon but looking at the volume of recruitment I'm expecting to be waiting a little while.

Passed my assessment on the 2nd November, several on here earlier than that. I think it's just a numbers game there appear to be quite a few awaiting training courses that's also taking in to account those awaiting a position in their area.
You could be awaiting a drop out once the contracts are thrown out. On my assessment they stated 32000 applied 1500 went to interview didn't state positions available and areas they were in. It's a big organisation so you will soon get an answer but could be March/April for next intake if you don't hit this one. I've heard on the forums that an intake of 3000 not sure over how long.
Good Luck and I hope you and me are on the next course!!
Any other gossip anybody has heard?

Yeah those numbers were pretty much those that were quoted on Wednesday. There was mention that each intake for training runs with 50 people and the last one started last week which takes them to the week before xmas which is when they stop until January. We were told those that were successful would be looking at starting in January but obviously this will be depending on the vacancies being signed off. Suppose if they're working it with the tax year it could be more towards April but hopefully hear something soon.
As for vacancies there was no detail given on a number and there was 14 of us on my assesment and 2 no shows and that was the 4th session over the 2 days so I don't know what the ratio but working on that there was say 40-50 applicants through to that stage, those applying to be based somewhere up here in the north east.
