Re: Openreach employment 3

I read in pervious posts that if there wasn't a job available they were quick at pointing out via email. As we haven't been sent an email of that nature yet it could still look possible that things are being finalised and signed off.

Only other option is that someone's made a big mistake on a national level with recruitment. I can't see all our areas not having at least 1 of us to get a job start date.

I mentioned before that Vince said at assessment centre that there was a job for each and everyone of us and said we'd not have been at assessment centre otherwise. There was a joke about not having to fight each other for the job in the carpark.

Vince did mention about getting sign off from Finance before training could be confirmed, and had hoped it to be in December but couldn't guarantee.

Hope this helps give some positive thoughts on this situation.

Thanks
I think your post will reassure a great deal of people on here! With large companies everything is held up by the finance guys as the training and issuing of kit is quite an outlay especially if there is 50 of us!

To be fair going on what abmis2006 said when I got told they were awaiting finance to sign off she said with every new engineer they get brand new van, tools, uniform then there's paying for all that initial training it is a lot for a company to sign off so I imagine it's not as straight forward and as quick as we would all like

Big outlay, I imagine getting orders placed at this time of year would naturally delay the process. It's just unfortunate that we are at this time of year.

I don't think the wording of emails helps with how they are interperated but just a formality they have to follow. I had an email from Laura with a question I asked as I'm looking to move but didn't want to move somewhere that would set my application back. She did advise that she couldn't confirm start dates or locations at this time until she receives an update in the new year.

I've taken it from a positive angle that training can't be confirmed until the background stuff has been sorted out.

I know it's deflating but good things come to those who wait as they say. Let's think positively but of course don't put all our eggs in the basket to avoid disappointment should finance not agree signoff. Would likely mean a longer wait. Its cost them money to get us to where we are at, why shell more on fresh applicants. wink

In almost every place ive worked finance has to sign off on the vacancy before people are interviewed for it, someone at bt has messed up this process. I.e. what if finance says no?

Hi everyone.

Been reading through your comments. I applied in april, started training in June and have been out in the field since august.

I know how you all feel with regards the waiting game but don't worry, you will all get your job offers in the end. I absolutely harassed the recruitment team day after day but you just have to wait it out and it will come good in the end.

" training and issuing of kit is quite an outlay especially if there is 50 of us! "

For someone the size of OR ? I dont think so , maybe a lack of training capability ? As in only so many guys doing the training ? Far more like it i would think.

Still not fair on you guys but thats the way it goes.

these comments are my own and in no way represent any company that i may or may not be linked too.

I think the training schedule may be changing which means they'll have to arrange where the tutors are going to be and rearrange course dates, venues and accommodation.
