I passed my assessment in Exeter mid October and have been waiting since for a start date.

I got a seasonal job which wasn't extended after xmas. I'm now claiming benefits

I called BT HR Tuesday 3 Jan and was told there was a big Finance meeting Friday 6 Jan and they were waiting for signatures to sign off the training.

Today I called again and was told it may be as late as March, but the person I spoke to said 'don't quote me, I might be totally wrong'

I appreciate they are dealing with £m however I am feeling very stressed and deflated after the initial excitement of being selected. I can't pay my rent and just want to work.

Hoping the person was wrong and we all hear something soon.

In the meantime I am looking for other work so I can keep a roof over my head.

That absolutely sucks, there were threads on here before saying don't place all your eggs in one basket. I'm afraid that's just it the process is shemefully long,

Hope you keep the chin up and if the BT one comes along may it be a extra choice for you. I'm currently in a similar position with temp work but decided to go fishing for other jobs start of January as BT isn't contracted to me.
I'm confident of finding other employment and not waiting around anymore for the BT email!!

certainly not putting all my eggs in the BT basket, just struggling to find any other work at the moment, applying for jobs every day. Anything will do until BT finally give me a start date.

[censored] thing about it all is that the wife is in the same situation. Temp job at xmas which finished. NYE and we both started the year unemployed. Only way is up!

Same reply for me I asked yesterday had the standard reply "I�m afraid I still do not have an update, Once I have any information I will come back to you."
Luckily I am in a full time job now but still wanted to start as soon as poss!.

At least you are getting a reply, my two emails have been ignored!

Looks promising though from that email it sounds like we will be getting start date for March, hopefully we hear something by the end of this month!

We wrote to you in December with an update on where we are with your application for a role as an Openreach Engineer. I am aware that we said we would be in contact with you in the New Year, so wanted to make sure we gave you the latest position.



Firstly, thank you so much for your patience. Recruitment plans for next year are very much in progress and we are expecting a firm announcement on when we will be able to commence the next round of training by end of February.

the start date will be end of march if they give you a months notice, also the checks etc will take time
