I had the same email, massive relief as I was starting panic a little at the lack of contact from them. Fingers crossed for march then!

Hi Guys,

I started off the thread mid last year has I and many other eager to start folk were in exactly the same boat as yourselves. It really is a waiting game, some wait longer than others. In the long run you will all eventually be successful. The logisitics which the recruitment team have to deal with is quite phenominal and its pretty much accurate that they will contact you as and when vacancies become available in your given geographical location. Openreach is, thus far, a great company to work for despite what some folk may say (they must have never worked for a truly bad employer) Good luck to you all and just be patient. Its well worth the wait!

A chum of mine went to a BT/PO interview in 1982. Two years later the area inspector turned up on his doorstep asking if he could start Monday.

Things don't look like they have changed much.

He started on the Monday.

For one Shlonger I would like to that you for starting this forum thread as it has been a fountain of knowledge for a lot of new applicants and has helped us a lot with the waiting knowing we are not alone as the contact can be varied and with long intervals apart.
How are you finding working at Openreach is the learning curve steep?

Just out of curiosity is there anyone here that recently started training and if so is it just the first week up at yarnfield or is it the 5 weeks up there?

I'm just about to finish my second week training. I'm from Brighton pretty much and I'm doing the full 5 weeks in yarnfield. 5 hour drives home Friday and 5 hours drive back on Sunday. Some people have had the first week in yarnfield, get your van and equipment and do the rest at a closer facility. Any other questions I'll be happy to answer

What van did you get and any tips so far?
Have you heard if there was any reason or change as to why we all weren't on your course as we were initially told it was for a Jan start date?

I have a friend who works for open reach already, and he said last night that they have just had a training budget signed off, so we could have some movement soon. Fingers crossed.
