I don't intend to sound negative but I wouldn't count on that, all of us on the April to may inductions had our assessments from July to November last year it seems it's quite a complicated process in terms of the number of people that apply and they have alot of arranging to do when they are booking start dates the pre employment checks are given to you at least 6 weeks before your start date so I wouldn't bank on it.

Hi guys been lurking a little and reading all the posts here, I have my assessment day on Wednesday at Yarnfield and in the email it says there will be an English and Maths assessment, It has been some years since I have had to do any tests like that so I was wondering what kind of things it might ask. Do I need to brush up on things like long division and fractions etc or is it simpler than that?
I don't feel my English is terrible nor do I think my Maths is but as I say its been quite some time since I have had to call on the skills given to me at school well some of them at least.

They have changed the whole recruitment process you are the first to go through it all.
We had normal application process, then telephone interview (now replaced with video interview).
If successful we were then invited to an Assessment day which consisted of 2 interviews 1 standard interview, 1 which was Health and Safety and Customer focussed where they asked what you would do if confronted by an irate customer, if you were to run a drop wire across a town road what might you look for, and if you were to fit a phone socket and wire from one corner of the room to the other what would you do?
This was followed up by the famous wiring of a 13 Amp plug.
