My feeling is that the BT line move (which MUST be done via BT Consumer) will work, but there will be a gap of a couple weeks on the broadband.
But do you mean with going to Infinity Andrew, or Plusnet moving the FTTC over afterwards. Surely that FTTC would cease when the line went?

Ah yes....

But was envisaging the line move as being something booked in advance to happen on say 12th December, so line actually ceases in location A on that day and the activation at location B is on same day.

The reality if zero downtime is really needed on the broadband and fixed line is a requirement, is a new line with broadband and phone at new property, and then move across the existing phone number as a new number onto a second line - this should have no impact on broadband (key word being should, as have seen second lines getting confused and being shut down when people try and do clever stuff).

In short the rule for least headaches is to not force the system to do what you think is the correct/best way but just let it play out and plan for worst case. The forums are littered with tales of people having problems where they've tried clever tricks to get things done a certain way.

In reply to a post by RobertoS:
bite the bullet and migrate the fibre here and now to BT then get them to do the house and number move. I would think that is the safest if it is vital to keep the phone number.

Or put up with losing the number. Get a line and fibre put in by Plusnet on a house move and ditch the BT line.

If I understand it right, while it's vital to keep the number, OP doesn't care if the broadband is from Plusnet or whoever, as long as downtime is kept to a minimum.
So my suggestion would be to get BT to move the line and number, and let the PN broadband service drop. For the new address, get both the phone line and broadband from BT - this way, both line and broadband will (should) be up on the same date.

In reply to a post by MrPete:
The new house is on the same exchange and has a working phone line.

As for the phone line in the new house, it's not relevant. The only thing to be wary of is not to cancel the existing line before BT migrates new line in. Otherwise you'll have a pending cease order which will prevent you from putting new orders in until the cease is complete.
