I'm using a HG612 modem on a Huawei 384HD cab. Just over 60Mb down sync, 20 up - no G.INP, 6db SNR. It's been up for 45 days so far.

Feel you've made the right choice, it's not like you're stuck on a 25Mb sync. 50 is perfectly adequate for most users and taking a gamble on cable can be a hassle if it's completely over subsribed and as much use as dial up.
