Advice needed for wireless/mobile broadband contract.

Hi everyone.

I'm new here so a big HELLO to you all.


Where I live the fastest landline broadband I can get is 2.1Mbit. I stream a lot of video on the likes of netflix and amazon and do a lot of remote PC support too. My connection just isn't up to the task. I have a bt mobile contract but it's only 20GB per month and I use way way more than that. I can easilly use up to 10GB per day. The maximum data on a mobile contract i have found so far is only 50GB per month.

If possible I'd like to find a mobile or other wireless provider which can offer at least a 10Mbit connection with a monthly data allowance of 100GB minimum. I was hoping some of the forum members here may be able to point me in the right direction for a supplier who may be able to provide what Im looking for, for a reasonable price.

Any help would be really very much appreciated.

Sorry, I always forget to give mission critical info.

I live near Wigton in Cumbria near Carlisle. I also forgot to mention that I have been in touch with a company called Solway communications who deal with wireless broadband but unfortunately they cant help due to not being able to get a line of sight from my house to their mast. It's a shame as it would have been a 10Mb connection which would have been perfect.

I believe 3 do a 100 GB a month plan but it is only available in store and obviously depends on your coverage.

Oh. OK. Im sure 3 works where I am. Ive had a 3 contract before. There is only one place 4g works in my house but it doesnt matter because if I get a sim I'll not be putting it in a phone but in my huawei mini router. Thanks for your input. I really appreciate it.

4g antennaI use one of these to improve signal strength but don`t know if your router has the required connections for an external antenna.

Yeah. My Huawei has a range extender port. Its the e5573 model which i got from ee a few years ago. But i dont actually have an extender for it. Or actually maybe its just for boosting the wireless signal so other devices from further away can connect to it... rather than boosting the actual 4g signal. Anyway it worked perfectly with ee when i had one of their sims

I have the Huawei e5372 model, which comes with 2 antenna ports, using ts-9 or crc-9 connectors.

I also have one of those Poynting Xpol antenna. That has two leads, each ending in an SMA connector. It works well, both at home (stuck on the outside of an upstairs window) and when travelling.

To get the two to work together, you need a couple of adapters. Some are listed on the Solwise website.

However, I found that the connectors worked loose over time, and the heavy cables didn't help. I swapped to an adapter style that incorporated a 90° connector and short lead ... so you can use a rubber band to help keep it seated.

The adapter type is important. Some websites tell you to use ts-9, while some tell you to use crc-9. Some places tell you they are interchangeable. However, I found one place that says crc-9 is 3mm, while ts-9 is 3.5mm, and Huawei tend to use the crc-9 style. http://hpanswers.blogspot.co.uk/2014/07/differnce-be...
