Numpty Question about achievable speeds

[link to this post]

Hi all

Just moving house and the BT speed estimate for the new property is 32-46Mb with a guaranteed minimum of 30Mb. With those speeds is there any benefit in paying for 76Mb broadband or should I just pay for Up to 52Mb? Do the faster packages use technology that will improve my performance or is it just wasted money?

No technology differences between the packages so the up to 52 Mbps is your best bet, or up to 38 Mbps with another provider if happy with a 38 Mbps cap

Thanks for that Andrew. My follow up question is whether there is any appreciable speed difference between different providers or will they all achieve the same speeds on the same cables?
I realise that customer service may vary massively and the provided router may be different, but could I expect to receive the same speed from a 38Meg package from Vodafone, Sky or Zen?

Connection speed they should all be similar, what you may find is differences in performance at peak times and that can vary from area to area so no blanket answer possible.
