Do TT retail run a D(ynamic)LM? Or is it basically fixed as in the old days. Dont forget this isnt FTTC.

TT's automated line management system has always been dynamic on adsl2+ lines, however in the last year or two, they rolled out a newer/better version of DLM which they said would remove the need to set line profiles manually.

In the past when they set a line profile manually, this removed the DLM permanently and the line then had a fixed profile eg 24FSNR6, 24ISNR12 etc
where
24 = up to 24 Mbps (adsl2+)
F = fastpath
I = interleaved
SNR6 = noise margin etc

could get talktalk to set it to 6dB or 9dB and sacrifice some speed for stability.

TT can no longer set line profiles manually, its all left to their DLM on adsl2+ lines.

OP,
There could be issues with the modem/modem fw on the router, can you plug in a different router to rule out such issues? If a different router cures the disconnects then request a free replacement router via the TT forums, assuming a TT supplied router is being used.

Yes TT can set profiles manually, but only if you take it far enough..
I raised a complaint through their CEO office (whatever that is) and got my line capped at 2Mbps which I knew was the best my line will support with any degree of stability. Their (Disastrous)LM was dropping it to 1Mbps every time a squirrel farted in the tree outside.

I didnt leave the plusnet router connected for long as to be honest I was expecting it would get sync but fail authentication, so my plan was to connect and see line stats only.

Talktalk have sent a new router and its a newer version.

Line speed has been lowered to about 17Mbit but were still connecting at 3dB margin. However interleaving has been dropped and its now on fast path.

Its been 24 hours with the new modem and it hasnt disconnected.

Im not convinced it is fixed given the new modem is also connecting at 3dB but my father in law says it is working.

I still dont get why the regular disconnections didnt force DLM to change noise margin, it seemed to push up interleaving instead.

Ill post again in a few days.
