FTTP on Demand - How to ?

[link to this post]

Hi all - I am very much a newbie on here, and am looking for a bit of advice - please redirect me if this would be better posted in a different forum.

I live a little way outside a medium sized town in Dorset and am about 1.4 miles from the FTTC cabinet. When I moved I had a FTTC line installed, and got about 10 Mbs down but only 0.5 up. since I work from home, this is not really workable, so I changed to ADSL+ and got about 10 down and 1 up which was better, but still not enough, so I eventually subscribed to a very expensive bonded service with 3 ADSL+ lines.

The BT Wholesale speed checker says FTTP on demand is available. I suspect that the cost of being the first person to ask for this would be massive, and was considering lobbying my immediate neighbors to see if any of them also wanted a decent service and find a way to share the costs.

Can anyone give me some guidance on how to do this and what the costs might be ?

There are three "recent" very long threads on this subject in the Fibre Broadband forum smile. The previous two are linked to in the opening post of the latest.

There's also this related one about Cerberus orders, which runs up to November last year. They are a seller of it popular on here. You will see them mentioned a lot in the other threads.

There may be someone replies who is able to summarise the current position, but I can't, sorry.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk. Domains, site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Three 4G, tbb tests normally 35-45Mpbs down, 65Mbps off-peak, 9-24 up.

If looking to do a joint effort with neighbours then the Community Fibre Partnerships that Openreach offer may be the better way.

Fibre on Demand is much more of a solo effort
