Externally run fibre cable

[link to this post]

Hi all ,
I have had a good search on Google but am struggling to find an answer to my specific question.
I've signed up to Gigaclear after they recently placed a POT right outside my house , literally 1m from front of house. I can provide pic if required .
To get to the house it is just lifting a couple of slabs and re laying , which I'm happy to do.

My question is in regards to actual entry into the house from where the cable emerges from the ground.
I'd like that entry point to be around side of house , roughly 15m from where cable emerges.
So is it possible to run the cable up ( 2m-3m), along (15m) , then enter house? ( The sky cable follows thos route)
This is regardless of who is installing , I'd just like to know that it is possible. IE will the cable be ok in an outside situation?
I think this falls inside working at heights rules , and anyway at point of entry there is an external stone staircase so no need for ladders.
Hope that all makes sense.

Kind regards

Donut

Yeah you’ll be fine. The cable from the POT will have an external grade jacket, no problem to run it on the outside of the house. At that height no real issues either. They won’t work above 5 metres, so you’re all good.

Gigaclear may provide you with the materials to do the job your self. If that is something you would like, you could ask them. In the days when you had to pay for an install, mine was a DIY install.

All booked and it's a free install 👍
Was lucky really , live about 100m off road , but owner of drive had Gigaclear installed. When they did it they put pots outside the other 4 houses while they were at it , gratis 🙂👍

Just another Q' with a piccy also.
Will they lift these couple of slabs or shall i lift b4 they turn up?
Was thinking of doing it and laying in some tubing ready for them.
What's the spec for the pipe from pot to wall?
Soz don't think i can upload pic.
Cheers

The installer will be appreciative of any paving slabs etc that you remove to make their job faster and easier.

I’m fairly sure Gigaclear don’t install any additional conduit from the pot to the premises, the lead-in cable is simply laid direct in ground / direct buried. Therefore there’s no official or unofficial spec. as such for conduit (as there is for example with Openreach).

You may wish to read the self install guide to get a feel for what will be done.

The local Gigaclear installs near me used black plastic flexible conduit. The cable itself can be laid in the ground but is no doubt easily damaged.

Well after all that , they couldn't blow the fibre through, got blocked at 30m 😁.
Internal finished and they happily wrapped it round the house for me.
Interestingly 30m is right where i thought they might have a problem. I was in when ground workers laid the carrying tube and when they spurred trench onto my deive they did a right angle turn. Pretty sure rhats where the issue is , but could be wrong.
Ho hum , no biggy
