Sky query

[link to this post]

My father in law has passed away a while back. We are trying to sort things out for his widow.

I’m trying to establish exactly what product he has provided to his house by Sky.

There online consumer interface ‘stuff’ seems just full of obscuring sales speak.

His package is described as ‘Sky Super fast’ is that 40/10 or 80/20 ?

Thanks in advance for any answers

Superfast at present seems to be 80/20 - whether it has always been that or whether that is what it was when your father in law signed up is a different matter. Is it significant as to whether it is 40/10 or 80/20 for your purposes with sorting things out? Could you do a speed test at the house - if so and it is over 40/10 then you will know for sure that it was the 80/20 package.

I didn't think the Sky portal use to differentiate between 40/10 and 80/20, I think what they put you on was based on your predicted speed although that may have changed.

Thank you for both your replies.

We are trying to reduce costs for the mother in law.

I must admit, now Dect mentions it , I kinda recall that they just sell that one product, and provision it based on estimates.

They get 36meg sync, so will most likely have been set up as 40/10

Thanks again

Is she out of the minimum term? If so, assuming you or your wife is either a named contact or has a Power of Attorney, you could try negotiating a retention deal?

Is your wife executor for the estate, or is it a solicitor.

Thinks, if the Sky contract was purely in your father-in-law's name it no longer exists of course, so minimum term cannot apply. Do Sky even know he has died, as that could get tricky unless continuance of service has been agreed.

It’s in her name now Bob, but we’ve negotiated a big saving already, he used to have just about all the packages going for the TV. Not any more.

I was just seeing if they’d flogged him an overly expensive broadband package too.

Thanks
