Assistance with Internet Issues

[link to this post]

Hello,

I need some help with problems affecting my internet speed. I am not sure whether this is the place/area to post this, but I am in dire need of help.
I am currently using a 5 GHz band, however in the last month or two my internet has been having problems.

Randomly (usually for a few hours everyday), it will cause my ping to go:
Normal -> high ping (usually 700-1000 ms) -> microdisconnect and then back to normal, then repeat every few seconds.

I am using a Realtek 8811CU WIreless LAN 802.11AC USB NIC as my network adapter.

My other housemates has had no issues with ping.
I have tried a lot of methods to make it turn back to normal but to no avail. I have updated the drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled the driver, have made sure the Wireless Mode setting is on IEEE 802.11a/n/ac, used cmd to refresh and flush IP, etc. Below is me using cmd to ping my IP (note the empty spaces is it timing out).

I have reset the router as well, but this does not change anything.

I'm not sure what to do.

Thank you for the reply.

Currently, nothing is in the way. The router is located downstairs, however my two other flatmates in the rooms next to me are not experiencing any problems with ping. It has only really happened in the last month, so I'm not sure what changed to make these ping problems happen.

Common sense would suggest it is something particular to your device then. Have you tried connecting via an Ethernet cable temporarily ?

Possibly components on the wireless card overheating and causing the card to then reset? Possibly the drivers have recently updated and rolling back to an earlier version might resolve the issue?

Also, you don't say what you are doing when the Ping increases and does a connection reset.

Gaming/Downloading/Streaming/Normal Browsing??

Are your flatmates doing the same thing? Have you tried to get them to do the same thing as you when the connection reset?

Tried your USB WIFI card in their devices to test?

I would as others have said, try using a LAN cable directly into the Router as a temporary test to see if it still happens.

Its also been known for Windows Updates to cause little issues like that.

Could be the USB WLAN device's inbuilt memory buffer filling up then telling laptop to stop transferring data until its clear - hence the connection resets.

You haven't really given us much to go on?

Regards,
Haydn
