Reboot the PC and retest by pinging the various servers to make sure there are no timeouts and then check outlook etc again.

Same as before, no response from smtp.idnet.com no outbound email on Outlook or Linux

Are your other machines picking up the new DNS servers? Are they also experiencing the exact same symptoms now?

Just to be reiterate and be totally clear...

- can you successfully ping each of the following without any timeouts on all machines:

1.1.1.1
8.8.8.8
212.69.40.22
smtp.idnet.com
212.69.36.23 (IDNet primary DNS)
212.69.40.23 (IDNet secondary DNS)

OK well then. So that's basically everything except the IDNet SMTP mail server!

Do you have a fixed or dynamic public IP address?

IDNet is the ISP I use. I have a fixed IP in the 212.69.46.XXX range and I can ping both smtp.idnet.com and 212.69.40.22 with no packet loss. For the record, when I ping smtp.idnet.com I am getting a response from an IPV6 address. No idea whether that has any significance.

when I ping smtp.idnet.com I am getting a response from an IPV6 address

Possibly just an OS protocol precedence/preference for ipv6 over ipv4.

Using ping smtp.idnet.com -4 should force it to return an IPv4 addressed response
