Thanks for the reply XGS_Is_On ,I use a vpn as, I understood, to be an extra layer of security. Is this good ?
A vpn server like Wireguard unlike a vpn subscription service is a very sensible way to access an insecure device like a NAS or IP cameras if you are outside the LAN.
I don’t think anyone is questioning the value of underlying technology. After all it’s the same technology that allows you to access this website securely and do your online banking without fear of snooping.
What is debatable / questionable is the notion peddled by VPN access subscription services as some sort of general security panacea, that an additional VPN subscription (theirs of course!) ought to be in place for
any and all / general internet access.
