Why do Uno check based on phone number?

[link to this post]

Losing the will to live here; checking on ISPs to supply broadband to my property.

The latest oddity is Uno who ask for a phone number rather than postcode to check on.

Given that most packages come without a phone these days it seems very odd, but there must be a sensible reason........ or maybe not?

They've made a mistake - they haven't updated their availability checker to take account of SoGEA or FTTP to FTTP migrations, or, indeed, new service provision

I found the same thing. Anyone with FTTP can't proceed to get pricing or order.

If you contact them they will get back very quickly. Still, you need to ask the question what is going on with UNO. It might just be they are happy with the number of customers they have and aren't really looking to add more so haven't felt the need to modernise the on-boarding process.

Back in the days when ADSL/FTTC was the main product, this produced a more accurate speed estimate as line quality can vary so they can get a specific result. They shouldn't be doing that now smile

Thanks for the replies. They do suggest I am *not* going mad, although it certainly feels like it. wink

I wonder if there is a name for going mad as a result of trying to make sense of ISP websites? smile
