Acer Restore

I have an Acer Aspire XS3200 and I wish to restore it back to factory install.

It has a hidden partition on it which I am advised is the restore partition.

When pressing ALT+F10 I get to a screen which simply says "NOEXECUTE". Upon hitting enter it just boots into Windows.

So, how can I actually get a restore done on this machine?

Nope, no disks with the machine at all, just this so called restore partition.

A System Restore CD normally comes with an Acer (came with mine anyway & works very well). Maybe good to look for your model on the Acer website to find out more details or send them an email asking how to revert to factory state. Don't forget you need to backup your own data & you will probably need to reinstall programmes.

I have two Acer desktops and neither came with any media.

I am led to believe, from Acer, that in order to do a restore, I need to pay them £50 per restore disk.

Either way, if I cannot get these sorted easily I will just tip them and get another couple of (non Acer) machines.

My old Acer came with a restore partition, and no restore disk.

That thead has the same issue as you.. and he found the solution add my other link and you won't have to "tip" the box ..

Poor landfill. Ever thought that was incredibly wasteful of you

I have checked that and a number of other ideas out, none work.

Either way, I no longer actually need the box so anything more than the smallest amount of effort simply will not be worthwhile.

So try a number of charity organisations that will recycle old PC kit, and they want money!!!!

My pet hate on many Windows systems is this restore bit. Too often it simply fails to work. It astonishes me that manufacturers are so stingy that they will not supply a DVD install disc or discs for their hardware when such discs cost them virtually nothing to produce compared to the retail price for the hardware or software associated with them. Another bugbear is manufacturers of Nvidia based graphics cards with HDMI outputs not supplying a tuppence ha'penny one foot long, 2 wire cable to attach them to the SPDIF audio output of a motherboard or sound card. Another is a manufacturer supplying kit that requires jumpers in some instances not supplying the required jumper.

`i believe that on acer you are supposed to create 3 discs when you first run the machine.
2 for the recovery and 1 for the drivers.

it should have prompt you to do this or you could have created them from the start all programs acer menu.

Should have read the info that comes with the acer first.

Yeah I binned everything "Acer" when I got the machine and never made any DVD's.

If the restore partition is intact, all you need to do is unhide ( if it's hidden ) and then set that partition to active. Reboot your machine and it should then start up in the recovery partition.

I have successfully done this with 3 different Acer machines owned by friends.
