PC case audio sockets can produce HD Audio or only AC-97?

Hi,
My PC case has an audio socket and a microphone socket on the side panel.
I wish to determine whether these sockets are capable of reproducing HD Audio or whether I am limited to AC-97.

There are two separate cables from these sockets having the following identities:

Cable 1....
MIC_PWR
MIC_IN
GND

Cable 2....
R_OUT
R_RETURN (joined to R_OUT)
L_OUT
L_RETURN (joined to L_OUT)
GND

Please can I ask those of you in the know which format these sockets are and can you please direct me to a diagram of the necessary connections?

HI, they sound like AC'97 connectors.

Yep, thats AC'97

HD audio will look somthing like this:

MIC2_L
GND
MIC2_R
-ACZ_DET
LINE2_R
GND
FAUDIO_JD
LINE2_L
GND

I have just bought an Obsidian 800D together with lots of high spec. hardware recently so no need to worry about AC97 now
