Asus Pundit p2-ma690g

[link to this post]

Hiya,

I am building a HD media PC and have seen the Asus Pundit p2-ma690g for only 60 ex display but cannot find any info about it on the Asus website or after googling it.
what i do know is
AM2 mobo (no idea what max CPU is)
Ati 1250 graphics

will i need a separate gfx card for watching H264 or will the onboard be OK?

Does anyone know where I can find more info about this Pundit?

Thanks,
Steve

If you cannot find any reference to the board on the Asus website, then it is probably a branded board that Asus make for the likes of Packard Bell..

My advice: Leave it alone!!! Drivers will be at the whim of the brand, and Asus support will tell you to go to the brand if anything goes wrong.

How do I know this? I made this mistake with Packard Bell branded Gateway board - had to send it back twice - first the IDE port was not working and then on the replacement the SATA chip started corrupting drives, a fact I only realised after RMAing 4 disks to Seagate (disks tha were working perfectly in another machine).. Not got the replacement yet, but I am in no hurry.. frown

Its definitely an Asus board, it is in one of those small mini towers that Asus make called the pundits. I think the reference number must be for the board not the actual tower so that is why I can't find any info but I thought a web search would have turned up more useful info than it has.........

Take a look at Asrock K10N78M

It supports the AM3 Athlon II CPU or Phenom. its micro atx and has a Geforce 8100 Onboard and will manage H264 playback
