Zyxel and always up connection?

Does anyone know if there is a way to force a Zyxel router to reconnect if the connection is dropped, other than the "nailed up connection" option in the WAN settings?

We had a bit of a power cut/wobble some time during the small hours and whilst the router has had power it doesn't look like it's been connected all day long which has caused a few headaches.

It should reconnect automatically; my P650 certainly does. Can't think off the top of my head that there is a setting anywhere else that affects this.

It could be that it tried but was prevented from connecting (such as a stale session). Have you checked the logs to see why it didn't reconnect?

Nothing obvious in the logs (assume you mean the ones you get at via the CLI?). I'm wondering if the fact it wasn't a full power cut just a series of spikes/surges/whatever might have got it "confused" for lack of a better term?

you need to tick the box that says "nailed-up connection" in the wan page of the settings. Or atleast thats what I have to do, it will just resync/reconnect if it drops or has a power cut.

If it was a series of spikes/surges, then yes it's possible that the router got itself in a twist.

I've realised that I didn't make it clear that you need to enable the "nailed-up connection". I had assumed you had this set already, but re-reading your OP left me wondering if this was the case?

I take it the router now appears to have stablised?

Sounds more like a job for a surge protector, or even a small UPS.
