Trouble with graphics card

[link to this post]

Hi

I recently put this card in my machine ATi Radeon HD4550. Its a 1gb card but seems to be struggling. I have updated drivers to the latest from the ATi site and I am running Directx 11.

I tried the resident evil 5 benchmark and I am getting about 10fps.

I dont know what else to try. Here is my system specs

Windows 7 Home Premium
2.40 gigahertz AMD Athlon 7450 Dual-Core
1250.25 Gigabytes Usable Hard Drive Capacity
Bus Clock: 200 megahertz
2gb DDR2 400mhz

Any help would be great

Cheers

Also just noticed this in Windows 7 experience index

Display adapter type NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS
Total available graphics memory 1791 MB
Dedicated graphics memory 1024 MB
Dedicated system memory 0 MB
Shared system memory 767 MB

Would this cause a problem

Cheers

You need to refresh the experience index for it to pick up the new hardware (although if memory serves, it normally tells you so)..

Did you uninstall the nVidia card before installing the ATI card??

Spasch has probably hit the nail in head in your case here. You probably haven't done enough to clean the nvidia drivers off your system.

You'll need to uninstall the ATI drivers.
Use a program like driversweeper.
Then reinstall the ATI drivers.

(If you run into any boot issues, like black screen on start up, hit F8 before the windows logo comes on at start up and select safe mode. You should be able to get back into windows then and be able to fix whatever went wrong. This is unlikely but I put it here just in case.)

What games do you play and what fps are you getting in those games?
