KK I have one of these and would like to partition it into 4 x 8 GB (roughly) which is the best/easiest free tool to use ..on win 7

Thanks

Does the windows 7 internal disk manager not do this then?

Ah, looks like it is the way windows deals with removable media.

Maybe this will help:

Try this: http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=197

Correction

That is only a formatting Tool, read this about Partitioning:

http://www.ghacks.net/2008/10/16/how-to-create-multi...

Also found this which is not the page that has been removed:

http://www.lancelhoff.com/make-windows-see-any-usb-f...

Readiing this it looks like you are bu**ered unless you change to XP or Linux as googling shows it can be done under Linux, but even so Windows will not be able to see the partitions

To partition the USB stick, download a Linux Live CD (Puppy good choice, 100Mb and loads in RAM) then use GParted (within Puppy) to create the required partitions.

As regards windows detecting and as has already been stated, you need to turn the flash drive into a disc drive (or at least fool windows that it is) otherwise windows will not be able to detect the multiple partitions created.

I know that flipping the usb flash drive into a disc drive will work on XP as per link but unsure as to whether windows 7 has the software available yet.

Bear in mind also that flash media can be very unreliable with much shorter life expectancy than disc based media.

Good Luck
