In reply to a post by Chrysalis:
the dell 2209wa is extremely popular and for some reason dell have already made it EOL, selling like hotcakes.

Do you have a link to that? I ask because it was supposedly made end of life in 2009 and that started a lot of rumors which are still circulating regarding back then.

I am after a second one so I can run extended desktop, but cant justify paying the RRP as when I bought mine (january 2010), the RRP was £50 less than it is now!

I got my info from hardforum.com where dell have withdrawn it from their us and canadian websites, before it went EOL it was nearly always out of stock.

I tried to look on their uk site but they have a silly dumbed down search tool, I chose all the options on it one at time and the 2209wa never came up, however it can still be found at retailers.

The 2209wa is a rarity it combines many features that may not come together again.

very low response time
no input lag
ips viewing angles
1680x1050 on 16:10 22"

dell's newer models have higher response times and they favouring (like other vendors) 16:9 now as well as pushing out higher res models.

and yes I have a 2209wa, is a superb monitor.

Its still on the dell.co.uk website > Home and Home Office > Electronics > Monitor and Monitor Accessories > 20-23".

However seeing as it isn't on their US sites you may well be right,

I thought the U2311H is meant to be a good alternative?

its 1920 x 1080

to me if the spec is different its not an alternative. 1920 x 1080 I think is too high a res for a screen smaller than 26".

In the old CRT days bumping up the max res was an all win because easy enough to decrease the screen res with no penalty, but now we have native resolutions so a too big res can turn people off.
