HDMI

Hi all,

I have a laptop that is a few years old now. It doesnt have a HDMI outlet. Does anyone have any experience with using say USB or PCI card to HDMI? Just wondering if there were any other better solutions that dont cost the earth to enable me to hook the laptop up to my TV

Probably easist to use VGA and an audio cable.

pcmcia to hdmi doesnt exist according to my google searches.

Does it have DVI? if so then use a DVI to HDMI cable.

That will still need a separate audio lead.

I suddenly realised i was making it far too difficult when I remembered my Xbox 360. Hence I can now stream the films from my laptop to my telly, not HDMI I know but a solution anyhow until I upgrade the laptop.

There are also lots of tiny boxes out there that can serve any number of formats to TV over HDMI from their own or USB attached hard drives, USB sticks, SD cards etc and some served from PCs or Macs over a network by ethernet or wireless. They even come with remotes and some are dirt cheap. See here for a selection.
