Can you confirm you have turned off the onboard graphics in the bios as per my previous post?

There is no option to disable it. Just an option to pick PCI-e over the oboard

Is the graphics card in question showing up in device manager as "Unknown device"? One of your posts sort of suggested it did........

Do you get any display output at all from it?????????

Right found my other card. Set bios to try PCI-e card first. Plugged both VGA and DVI cables in. The DVI connection worked. Post screen came up and the after windows had started the VGA connection worked but all I got was the wallpaper. All the icons appeared on the DVI screen

Reason: VGA output set to monitor 2, DVI output set to Monitor 1 (main desktop).
In reply to a post by UKOnline:
I swapped the VGA connection to default display and turned off the expand monitors so the DVI connection was not in use. Restarted the computer and the VGA connection once again never came on. But the DVI connection did. When it got to windows the VGA screen came on and the DVI went off.

Logical, those settings you configure only take effect in Windows.

I am back on the onboard VGA now as the PCI-e card was throwing up errors and not much worked on the display side.

Any ideas?

What sort of "errors"?

Is this Manaul the very different to what you've got ?

MANUAL

I'm wondering now if the motherboard model number you've given is correct.
